My Dad and my oldest Daughter Jill and her husband John and the babies Harley and Prince. My purse was a Christmas present from my youngest daughter and her boyfriend. We had a great Christmas!! Took lots of pictures and ate a lot of food!! Dad has to wear the hankie because of the radiation treatments although it's 85% better. My youngest daughter didn't want her picture shown much as 2 weeks ago she came down with Bells Palsy which paralyzed her right side of her face. Her smile is straight and her eye doesn't blink but once in a while. This should start to go away before long and she will be back to normal. Teah is still beautiful to me and to the rest of us.
I love to sew just about anything. I also do lots of crafts and painting shabby chic. Sewing is something I've been since I was 11 years old. I made my first quilt top out of neon cotton material back in the 60's and now my daughter is the proud owner of the quilt. I make I Spy Quilts, I Spy Bags, Tooth Fairy Pillows, girls clothing, crayon aprons, pin cushions, just about anything. Sewing just gives me peace of mind and puts me in a comfort mode.

Dad and I in Oct. when we went to Boone on a trip. Wednesday we got the news that Dad's cancer is back and they can't do anything else to help him. Please keep our family in your prayers. Dad is my best friend and has really helped me through losing Mom 1 1/2 years ago. I'm making scrapbooks for each member of our family for Christmas. Maybe I'll put a few of the pages up later.

Last year I made the girls a book about their dogs and a quilt with their dogs names on it. I had so much fun collecting the pictures and putting them on Snapfish and making the hardback book. Yes it's a real book:) The children couldn't put the books down, I bet they read it 5 times before they opened the rest of their presents. I even took them to school before I gave it to them and read it to my classroom. The children thought it was so cool and they call me an Author, how cool is that!!
Miss Minnie's is a place at Holden's Beach that I just love to go visit. They have everything from antiques to Shabby Chic and the prices are great!! Can't wait until my next visit as I also get great ideals:) Been scrapbooking a lot lately and will have to put up my buy at Michael's after Thanksgiving sale. I racked up with about 300 and some worth of stuff for about $135.00. YOU HAVE TO LOVE IT:)

Just wanted to share a great item I found. Yes it's a metal pant hanger that I hang my quilts on and I love it!!! You can hang so many different items on it like the small quilting flags that I see so many people making now. Good way to display with layers:)

Ok so the craft show is over and I have a $184.00 in more in my pocket than when I started:) It wasn't as busy as I thought it would be but for the first time and free to set up I'm happy!! At the very end of the show I sold $40 more dollars worth which tickled me to death!! Plus 40 of it I will really get Tues. which is ok with me as I have to take 8 tooth fairy pillows to Carthage to a lady who special ordered certain ones. All in all I will say I'll do it again next year if I get the chance! Also first time to set up and to learn just what I need and what I don't need:)

Well this is what I've been working on for the past several weeks. I'm going to do my first craft show this coming weekend. I don't know what will sell or if anything will but I'm going to see:) At least I'll know how to set up everything and to see what else I need to display my items. The diaper cake was something I've been wanting to try and make and for my first time I'm ok with the way it turned out. I'm not quite sure how to price my items yet except for the Tooth Fairy Pillows that I usually sell for $5.00. Any suggestions on pricing any of it?????

I've been making a few candy dishes that I saw on Pinterest and fell in love with them. They are the taller ones. The others are made from candle holders and antique pie plates to put cake slices or other desserts at supper on. These are so pretty on the table and just add a little more interest. The ones I chose where of old fine china. I love the conversations these bring on:)

I've been busy tonight making pacifier holders that have a string of beads and clip to hold the Pacifier on to clothing. I finished about 8 of them and have about 10 ready for the bead work. I need to run to Hobby Lobby tomorrow to pick up a few more items to complete the others. I only have two weeks for the craft show and have several more things to make. Trying to do 1 thing a night but looks like it's going to take 2 nights for these.

The top house is the most expensive house in Charleston SC at $11 million dollars. The picture on the bottom is one of the oldest Churches in Charleston and it's a little spooky the way the light hit it in this picture. We took a horse and carriage tour and it was wonderful. I really enjoyed my trip and as soon as I got home GIRLS I started sewing:) and crafting and I will share later!!

Thank you for your prayers for Dad. He has started his treatments and hope it works. Now for the fun part I took him to Boone to the mountains last weekend and we are now in Charleston S.C.: I think I will take him to wedding next weekend at the beach. He has treatments 5 days a week so the weekends are ours to do whatever he wants. He's talking about going to see Elvis place next. While he can still see shadows I'll take him until it's just not safe.

This is my 83 year old Dad, Brother and my oldest daughter and myself . This picture was taken 1 year ago today at the Edmonds reunion a month after Mom had died. I just found out this week that my Dad has Merkel Cancer which is on the right side of his head. This is a rare and very aggressive cancer. He will start treatments Mon. as they fitted him for a mask the same day so they could start treatments quicker as the spot grew a lot in just 2 weeks. Please say a prayer for him. I hope to get back to sewing soon as it comforts me.

I have shown this outfit I made out of 2 vintage pillowcases before but wanted to show it again as it's one of my favorites. I have made a couple outfits similar to this out of regular material and sold them but this one is still my favorite. I guess it's time for me to sell it and start making somemore:)

Another I Spy Quilt for a cousin who is having a shower in Ga. on the 28th of Sept. who is having a little boy. I hope they like it:)
This is the dress that I made from a vintage bedspread and I used a old hand towel that had embroidery on it for the top. I love the way it turned out and I think I already have a buyer.

These are good to make for all ages boys and girls. You can also make a wreath out of the flip flops putting the heels to the center and using 4 pair arrange them in a circle adding bows or any other decorations.

I'm making the top post and I found the pelicans to go on the front of the post. I can't wait to get them to the beach so people can tell where the drive way is!!!

I've been at the beach so once again I've not completed anything but I did make a new clipboard for me to use in my classroom:) I changed the pink to the shabby scrapbook paper.

I have finished with most of my Memorial Garden that I was making for the memory of Mom. I put a lot of her favorite items in it along with favorites from MIL, FIL and SisterIL who have passed. I had to show you my beautiful ferns of course in the picture there are only 2 but I bought 4 on sale for $3.00 each:) I'm working on the girls old playhouse and another yard area. I hope next week that I'll put something on here that I have sewn and if not I'll show you some neat yard art I'm making out of teapots, dishes and vases. I just need a day when it's not raining.

This is my first try at putting pictures on a quilt and I don't think I did so great, good enough for Andy but not for me. I'm trying it again with baby pictures of the girls with my Mama. I thought that might be a great Christmas gift if I can get it done. Does anyone have any suggestions of what type of material this does best on?

I have been working in the yard for the last few days as my husband had to mow and we had to kill the grass for our memorial area. Now we have pulled up all the dead grass and weeds and the mulch will be arriving Thurs. Then I can put out my items I have bought and some I have painted and others I have taken away as I just didn't like it. When we finish I'll put up pictures but we still have a lot to go. I also have to clean the house and get my clothes washed and put up since all I did was bring them in from the beach and put them in the empty bedroom until I tackled the washing and ironing task to get ready to go back to school Mon. Just to much I want to get done including redoing the girls old playhouse. I'll get started on my sewing and crafts hopefully in another week.
Sunday, August 12, 2012
I have started doing my memorial gardens so here's what I have so far. I'm just putting things around where I think I want them then to prepared the yard and put in the mulch. I've gotten mulch that is dark brown with bits and pieces in it. I love my Angel and bushes along with several items that belong to my Mother In Law and I bought a white poodle in which my Sister In Law loved when she was living had a poodle called Fancy White. I have some old farm equipment that's going out there also. We had a pool in the back yard that a hurricane brought a tree down over it and I'm going to fix that area. I'm also making my children's playhouse as they are 28 and 31 into a nice house area to put potting stuff. Can't wait to make it look like a cottage:) Today 1 year ago my Mom was buried so tomorrow will no more first. These first of everything has been hard. ALSO the bottom picture we have taken things out and sprayed weed killer on and plastic will go down to do my planting in as I bought some really great stuff that will come back every year.
