I love to sew just about anything. I also do lots of crafts and painting shabby chic. Sewing is something I've been since I was 11 years old. I made my first quilt top out of neon cotton material back in the 60's and now my daughter is the proud owner of the quilt. I make I Spy Quilts, I Spy Bags, Tooth Fairy Pillows, girls clothing, crayon aprons, pin cushions, just about anything. Sewing just gives me peace of mind and puts me in a comfort mode.

Yesterday I took a American Star Quilting class along with a great friend of mine. We always have a blast when we are together and we do a lot of cutting up in more ways than one. I decided to make my quilt out of Christmas material because I really wasn't too sure I would like it to be honest. Well I LOVE it and it only took 4 1/2 hours to get this much completed. Well along with having to seam rip a few seams as I have a problem with things not matching maybe a little OCD??? not sure!! Now my head is spinning as I'm wanting to make one with cars for boys, girly items of course for girls, and dogs for my grown children. I think this would be a great quilt to do for a memorial quilt of someones love ones clothes items. I've had several people to ask me to make other items for passed loved ones like bears and owls. I think I'll start with my own Mother's things, one for sure is a hankie then I can hang it up as wall art.

My great finds:) Back from the Conference and I had a wonderful time. Learned a lot, ate a lot and was able to find some wonderful material!! I think I'll make the blue, purple and green along with the 2 in the top left picture like the picture shown here. I purchased 2 other patterns from the same place and I bought some extra material to match some material that I had at home. Might just put some of that together and see what I come up with. Visit this week and see what happens:)

Just wanted to let everyone know that I will be attending a Teacher Assistant Conference Thursday through Sunday. I hope to find a few great fabric stores and a Hobby Lobby in Greensboro where we'll be:) I love the after hours of our classes when we can go and do our own thing and have some fellowship with our friends. I'll be posting some new items next week of some more little girls outfits I have tossing around in my mind. Have a great weekend.

I saw this at a Antique Fair and I took a picture to show my husband what I needed him to cut for me. I think this would be great for my next project to put at the end of my driveway at the beach. The pizza guy never knows which driveway is mine since we have 3 lots and several pine trees in the front of the lots. I'm going to make this next weekend. Right now I'm packing for a 4 day Teacher Assistant Conference in Greensboro. I'm going to look for a Hobby Lobby so I can buy some fabric to make 5 outfits that people have ordered like the vintage outfit. I love to design new creations and I bought several wonderful patterns off the internet!!

Beach Candles
These are fun and easy to make. You can pick up your own shells or buy them at the Dollar Tree:) where you can also buy the sand, candle and sometimes the vases. I usually pick my vases up at Goodwill or a Thrift Store. Of course put your sand in first then the candle and I like to put my smaller shells on the bottom and the larger ones standing up on the sides. I saw them at a outdoor wedding and new that was my next project.

I've seen so many people having drawing for items they've made so I've decided I'd join in on the fun:) All you have to do is go to the Tooth Fairy Pillow Picture and comment on which one you like. Wed. 25th I'll put everyone's name in who left a comment and if I pull your name out I'll let you know and get your address and sent it to you! I'll also put it up on my blog so everyone will know who won. Good luck!

Set of Vintage Pillowcases

I also wanted to show you 2 displays I have of vintage pieces. The top is pieces that I found at the Cameron Antique Fair which is coming up the first weekend in May and then again the first weekend in Oct. The second is an old quilted piece that I framed. I found the frame that had the extra little framed piece where I placed a quilting needle.

I have been working on several items lately! Seems I might need to finish some of them up before starting on something else so here's what I have accomplished so far. One Boy I Spy Quilt , I Spy for both boy or girl and almost finished with the girl I Spy Quilt along with an I Spy Bag. That's a lot of I Spying if you ask me:) Each quilt has 42 different squares and I use fussy cuts. I have an embroidery machine that I sometimes will do embroidery if it's a gift as: To Kathy From Grammy 2012. Well that pretty much wraps up today. I already have my material on the cutting board for a little girls outfit. Can't wait to see how that turns out!
